All Diamonds
03:29
|
|||
When I find a place for myself and
When I take a face from the shelf and
When it finally fits just like a dream
When I do to you what you do to me
But the night is far too dark
For me to tell my dreams apart
Cloudy visions all around
My many versions twist and shout
Ink on the mirror
Cracks in the clues
One thing that is crystal clear:
My blood’s all diamonds when I’m with you
Like a million nights and a day and
I been wondering when you’ll say,
“I been watching you shine like a beam—
Looks like I do to you what you do to me.”
But the night is far too dark
For me to tell my dreams apart
Cloudy visions all around
My many voices twist and shout
Ink on the mirror
Cracks in the clues
One thing that is crystal clear:
My blood’s all diamonds when I’m with you

Can't Have You
02:57
|
|||
The ink on the fingers
The jingling keys
The crease in the leather
The failing to please
Sunglasses and knuckles
The manicured views
All drops in the bucket
If I can’t have you
The gold and the brass rings
The crops and the cream
In Bloom when I pretend
That I know what it means
The affected addictions
The hard to find shoes
All drops in the bucket
If it ain’t me and you
Champagne in the cockpit
Hand claps into hugs
That look when they spot me
That drip in the drugs
The illusion of mystery
The creation of clues
All drops in the bucket
If I can’t have you
Blue suits in the state room
Portraits in the hall
Mountains when I move them
No trouble at all
The perks of persuasion
My name in the news
All drops in the bucket
If I can’t have you

Missing Pieces
03:31
|
|||
Someday soon you’ll be listening to Harvest Moon
Making faces at somebody like we used to do
There I’ll be: daydreams and drum machines
Look up and suddenly your ghost’ll run right through me
I got the memory running through my head forgetting
I was slipping through your fingers, too
When you read my letter I wonder what you started shedding
Was it tears or just the year of me and you?
I was just the kind of hammer for the nail
Or whatever you would call it
When somebody’s doing just what they should do
Every evening I would list the missing pieces and pretend the perfect one
Was someone was else, was never ever shaped like you
You were back in the saddle in the arms of someone handsome
Or at least that’s what I imagine
When it’s late and I’m high again
And in the evening when you list the pieces, even if it’s fleeting
Are there any that are shaped like me?
Someday soon you’ll be thinking what it meant to you
Colors there but fading like we never thought they’d do
There’s I’ll be: slightly rougher than I seem
Tell a lie or we could live here in the truth

Wave As You're Running
04:02

Limited appeal
Of sideways glances
Subliminally ill
On bright white lies
Unlimited is real
Just like romance is
So can’t we level it
And take a trip into the other side?
Unlimited alone
In tunnel vision
Definitively owned
And locked up tight
Beautifully broke
When our collision
Lets the messes in
So we can swim into each other’s eyes
Wave as you’re running past them
As fast as you can
And make them wait as they’re talking at you
As long as they can
Wave as you’re running
Gunning, as they say
Side
Eyes
Wave as you’re running past them
As fast as you can
And make them wait as they’re talking at you
As long as they can
Wave as you’re running
Gunning, as they say

Shadower

My city dry as bones
My people call it home
New rubies on my throne
New pockets in my robes
Your best friends are rotten fruit
You chopped the tree but left the roots
The many mes, the only lonely you
We’re the necks beneath your boot
The river rushing under you
We stick them out, we’re breaking through
The night feels funny
I swear I saw a shadow running up and down my bedroom walls
The night feels funny
While I was counting money, heard a shadow say I dreamt it all
My kingdom for a drop
Nobody said to stop
Your best friends are rotten fruit
You chopped the tree but left the roots
The many mes, the only lonely you
We’re the necks beneath your boot
The river rushing under you
We stick them out, we’re breaking through
The night feels funny
I swear I saw a shadow running up and down my bedroom walls
The night feels funny
While I was counting money, heard a shadow say I dreamt it all

We Used to Whisper
02:57
|
|||
White hot sun on a great red stadium
A speaker stack in the shade
Your blood, your bones, your green gold everything
Until the machine is made
Some said it softer
Some said it right
Some said it perfect under cover of night
We used to whisper
If only just
We used to lose all of the blood inside of us
Full moon and a deep blue river valley
Lavender fields on the land
Your palms, your ears, your green grass everything
A golden line in the sand
